How I Built My Computer:

The first step in building a computer is the hardware. The hardware is the building of the computer. The software is the downloading part of the computer. I am going to start with the hardware process.

First, I put the AMD Processor in the Mother Board. The Mother Board is one of the main parts of the computer. It is the piece that contains all the important parts such as the AMD Processor. The AMD Processor is a very important piece. It is the small piece that stores all of the data. It is very fragile so I had to make sure I did not drop it. Next, I put the Heat Sink on top of the AMD Processor. The Heat Sink is a small fan that cools the AMD Processor. It has to do this because the AMD Processor will get heated up while it has to store data. The cool air prevents it from damage. There is a paste underneath the Heat Sink and that cools it down. You must make sure you do not touch or remove the paste because then you would have to buy a new pack of paste. The fan on the top is to cool the whole Heat Sink. The heat that is transporting from the AMD Processor to the Heat Sink should not heat it too much or it will get damaged. After that, I put the Memory Sticks in the Mother Board. The Memory Sticks store all of the memory in it. There is a special place on the Mother Board that you have to put the Memory Sticks on. It is sort of like a lock. You have to place it in and lock it in so that it does not come out. After that, I unlocked the case. There were some thumb screws that I had to take out. Then, I fixed in the Solid State Drive (SSD). The SSD is a hard drive. A hard drive stores all of the documents. Then, I fixed the DVD Player in the case. Then I had to put the Mother Board in the case. Putting it in was pretty tricky. There were tiny screws that had to hold the Mother Board on to the case firmly. Once the Mother Board was in place, I had to put the power supply on the Mother Board. Putting in the power supply was very difficult as well because it was so big and heavy and there were so many wires to plug in to different spots. Although, all of the wires were not used but I finally managed to get through it. After plugging in all of the wires, we had to put them together so that it would be easy to reach in there again. We put it together with connectors. Now the hardware part of the computer is complete.

For the software, first I had to plug in the monitor to the case. I used my old monitor. We also used a wireless keyboard and mouse so we did not have to plug all of that in. We also had to connect the speakers to the case. Fedora Linux 17 was the server that we used. Once we turned on the monitor, we put a name for our computer. It is Galaxy. That took a very long time because me and my brother were trying to figure out a name that would satisfy both of us. Then we added four accounts for each of us. Then we had to set the time, the date, and the weather. After that, we set up the accounts for each of us by changing the background, setting accounts for Pidgin (a chatting log type of thing). We also had to put in a CD that Sarat made us for the software of the computer so that we could download the things we needed. We also got to download games.

This is how I built my computer. I built it with my cousin Sarat and my brother Rishabh and my dad. It was a lot of fun. We all enjoyed it!
